  • 20:37 Tomorrow may be really painful. My first working day on Dvorak. #
  • 21:25 Wow, the Colts are getting owned. #
  • 22:22 Dvorak is starting to seem inconvenient. It doesn't leand itself to odd laptop postures. Maybe with more experience? #
  • 13:18 Hungarian notation must die. It is a stone tool in the iron age. #
  • 14:37 I am looking at a database that wasn't designed, so much as "splattered against the pavement". #
  • 15:41 A full day of work on Dvorak. It hurt, but it's over. #
Twitter is useful. Visit me there.
  • Give dvorak about 3 weeks. That seems to be a fair average...

Also, on the laptop thing, I actually find the dvorak keyboard to be most comfortable on a laptop... But that certainly wasn't so when I started.

ctrl-c,v, and x are kinda awkward now. But thats just years of a left\one-hand key combo being done with my right now.
    • Yeah, I'm gonna miss having copy and paste right next to each other. Ditto for quit/close-window.

I'm definitely gaining confidence. I won't be at pre-switch speeds for awhile, but I think the feeling of being crippled will wear off soon.
      • The thought actually occurred to me that the copy paste problem might be solved by writing a hook that trapped ctrl-j and replaced it with ctrl-c, ctrl-k with ctrl-v, etc. But only if ctrl was pressed.

Nah. I've gotten used to it already.
        • Yeah. I'd rather get used to it. Dvorak is niche enough without adding more hacks.
          • Oh come on, you know you'd end up with at least... 4 or so downloads from sourceforge!
