There are reports that US troops are using chemical weapons on Falluja.

Now, considering the source, I'm hesitant to swallow this hook line and sinker, but, if it's true, we can't afford to ignore it. Might I remind everyone that, ostensibly, we went into Iraq to keep Sadaam Hussein from doing the same thing? I'll troll the web a bit more later, but it's the end of lunch and I'm at work, so I won't have time to check this one for awhile. If anyone gets anything more on this, let me know.
  • i am also very skeptical to swallow this considering a few things:
    1. The US has not trained either Army Navy or Marine Corps personell in the safe handling or deploying of chemical weapons of this nature in well over 10 years now (Last Weapons Tech was absored into another MOS/Rate in 1996)
    2. The weapons that the article is claiming they are using could even be CS or Tear gas, but other than that it is HIGHLY doubtful that anything else is even in the theatre considering that the only two bases to stage that stuff are Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean or the US Naval support station at Manhanma Bahrain and neither of these places houses the facilities to do so.

I am usualy one of the most frightened people of our govenemnt but in this case i can safely say from my experience both as a Weapons Expert and as a sailor who campagined in this area that it is VERY Unlikely.
    • I'd be shocked too. I wouldn't be surprised at CS or Tear gas, and really, wouldn't care. It might kill people, but it's less fatal than lead poisoning. And seeing as it's war, any restraint at all is good for everyone.

The added factoid that the military hasn't been trained for it also helps dispell this one. Thanks for the head's up.
