There's a feckload of social networking sites. There's a new one though, that creates a new way of doing it- i-Nieghbors, which your social network maps to geography. You create a neighborhood which represents your physical neighborhood (I created one called MadisonPlazaToLark).

They _just_ launched, so there's not going to be alot of neighborhoods yet, but you should really join up. Especially you msspider22, since you're the only person I know in this neighborhood now! Well, not counting deliriumcrow.
