In many novels by cyberpunk authors, the idea of being post-human is posited. The idea that once we conquer death, aging, sickness, once we can change our form, upload our consiousness, that we have moved to something else, and have lost our humanity.

Is this the case? Must it be the case? Does post-humanism strictly follow from these changes? Could we have these changes without becoming post-human?
