Okay, so Java- java developers have a little code that they talk. Because of the very open way in which Java came to be, it's got all sorts of things. Lots of them. It's just... big. And every Java person I've talked to, and every book I've read, basically assumes a working knowledge of all of these things.

And it's not simple. Ohhh no. For all the flaws in it, .NET is simple. Java is not. The J2EE platform makes me go crazy. One day of studying, and I'm ready to put the book through a wall.
