Causality versus Coincidence

First, my computer is still dead. ::pout:: I still haven't tried a different power supply, so maybe that'll be it.

That out of the way, I was thinking a bit about some occultism, and had a realization about spellwork.

The purpose of a spell is not to cause something to happen. It often looks that way, and is almost always described that way- but that's not what happens. Spells are not a cause.

Spells are a coincidence. I've been doing lots of job related spell work. Coincidentally, I've been finding more and more jobs to apply to. Did my spell cause this? No, I'd say the fact that we're leaving this godforsaken "Jobless Recovery" shit behind, and companies are hiring again.

At the same time, it's undeniable that they coincided- my spell work and the increase in job opportunities happened at the same time. I'll rant more on this when I've got Alicia back, or some new incarnation of computerized access that I'm not using someone else's computer for. I just can't think when I'm not using my own keyboard.

On a completely unrelated note, I want to see more Wild West set computer games. And not stupid ones- almost every game I've seen set in the Old West has either been fucktarded or relied on an "alternate history" or "sci-fi future west" version, with bigger guns, more magic, and in general- stupid.

No, I want to see a western video game, and I'm thinking an RPG, that doesn't rely on these massive revisions. Just an old fashioned western plotline, Silverado style, that relies on interesting characters and unique level design to be playble. Maybe use the NeverWinter Nights engine- it worked well for KOTR (and Knights will be seeing a sequel soon- that's pretty cool.)
