johnny cash

There's something about when you're playing Mario Kart on your GBA emulator and Carmina Barana plays over it. Trippy, trippy shit.

RIP Microsoft? Not for awhile...

...but this author notices that Microsquish is having trouble. Aside from its big name products, like Windows, Office, etc. they're pouring money into repeated losses. XBox, MSN to name two. And the fact is, a product that in some ways is as good, in other ways, is better than Windows (though in some ways, worse. Still, those "worse" areas are improving more rapidly than Windows) is gaining popularity. And it's free.

How do you compete against someone who offers a product comprable to yours and doesn't charge anything? You don't. Microsoft has had some success with its slander and libel campaign against Linux, and, to a degree, they're right. Linux is not user friendly. Take any geek that tells you it is and smack them. It's powerful, secure, extensible, stable. It is not easy. Yet. Things like the Sun Desktop are promising to change that. There is now a colony of geeks that recognize usability is lacking in Linux (By geeks for geeks), and if they want non-geeks to use it, they'll have to fix that. Alot of them see it as a war against Microsquish. They're sick of the lies, the bugs, and the crap product that Microsoft puts out. Yeah, XP is the best Windows O/S ever. And the Pinto's the most comfortable deathtrap ever made.

Wait Remy, aren't you on XP? Yes, and you know why? Games. There's more games for Windows than for *nix, and I'm sorry, WINE isn't there yet.

Alright, back to the death for Microsoft. They're celebrating (well, mourning) their first flat quarter- ever. That's right; no profits for MSquish this quarter. Whups.

Megaliths like MS don't vanish overnight. In fact, I don't expect it to vanish anytime soon. I do expect to see MS change drastically over the next five years, while they find a new business model to compete against free.

Hey, MS- port .NET to *nix and offer it for install the same way as Java. That'll heat things up real nice.

run the fuck away

Well pilgrim...

...that's a mighty fine sodium-cyanide bomb ya' got there. I'll stick with my six-shooter though, if it's all the same.

I only wish he wasn't a White-power phreak- because then he wouldn't be part of a marginalized group and hence, able to be ignored. Imagine, if you will, that this guy was a mainstream businessman, who also wanted to trash the government. Still, it does serve as proof that the terrorists aren't all towelhead-camel-jockies. Not that anyone will care in the public at large. Just an FYI though.
