run the fuck away

This is a test of CLIVE

Clive is a console based LJ client for *nix, which I'm running under Cygwin. And it works! Well, at least, if you see this it works. I whipped up a little script to let me edit in emacs, and then it posts it using cat ~/.post_data | clive $1, where $1 is the journal I'm posting in. The uname and password is in the .~/.cliverc file.

We'll see how it works. In other news, I didn't get around to posting an "On Anarchy" installment yesterday, since I was busy with KDE- which I never got to work. I did however get GNOME working, although, I have to be honest, I think I like using XWin with several consoles and twm as my window manager. It's not pretty, but it's lightweight and performs better than GNOME. And, moreover, it gets the job done.

More geekiness

So, I was getting annoyed. First off, gnome is being broken. But you know? The more I think about it, I don't want all that overhead of _two_ desktop environments. Enter WeirdX, a java based XServer... with a window manager that talks to windows. I can run WeirdX as a rootless window, and when I run cygwin apps... they run in normal windows. Windowblinds can even skin them! Suddenly, my *nixdom becomes more transparent! GLEE!
